The organisers of Automotive Interiors Expo 2012 are now calling for key speakers from all leading OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 manufacturers, suppliers, research institutions and styling houses at the forefront of their industry to propose suitable presentations for inclusion in the 2012 Styling and Technology Studio, which will run for three days alongside the exhibition.
Presentations should offer an insight into new product design and service innovations, technological developments, or those based on an application story working within one or more of the session categories proposed for discussion below:
Colour, feel and shape
Creating a unique vehicle environment and brand identity through the inspired use of stylish, durable fabrics, textures, plastic/plastic-metal hybrid composites and finishes.
Luxury
Ensuring the highest quality and standards of interiors within all luxury and economy vehicles.
Seating
Design; material selection and optimisation; ergonomics; comfort; integration; light weighting; and safety.
Materials and composites – lightweight and sustainable innovation
Contributing to OE CO2-reduction goals with weight-reduction strategies and techniques being a key factor; smart ideas to minimise costs and maximise performance; intelligent integration; styling flexibility; sustainable and environmental concepts to reduce resource consumption and cost; improving packaging efficiency; and addressing the future challenge of sound transmission in a lightweight interior.
Displays and driver ergonomics
Enhancing driver focus through intuitive human-machine interfaces (HMIs); applying relevant technologies at the fingertips to enhance the driving experience; next-generation technologies to improve driver behaviour and safety; creating a seamless interface; touch-sensitive and voice-activated controls; and digital displays and HUDs with mobile integration.
Connectivity and integration
Addressing the consumers' aspirational needs to stay connected via hi fidelity in-car connectivity for day to day communications, integrating additional upgradable in-vehicle functionality in a safe and accessible way; designing the ultimate intuitive, ergonomic cockpit that doesn't distract from the task of driving.
Safety
The convergence of active and passive developments; developing crash worthy interiors; minimising driver distraction; airbags and restraints; fatigue and attention driver assistance technology along with adaptive speed and braking support.

Each speaker will be allocated 30 minutes for their presentation, which must include one to two minutes at the end for questions and answers. As visitors will attend from more than 40 countries, all presentations must be in English.
