Weight reduction is a key issue in modern car design, but some otherwise suitable lightweight materials such as polypropylene remain unused because they are too troublesome to bond to other materials. This is why Aicello-Harke will be presenting its new Fixelon thermal adhesive film at Automotive Interiors Expo 2018.
The company reports excellent results with bonding metals, composites, plastics and natural fibres, and it says that Fixelon is compatible with a number of processes such as hot press, insert moulding and vacuum moulding. It’s suitable for sandwich panels and honeycomb structures, too. Since Fixelon makes pre-treatment of the surface unnecessary and reduces ageing times, Aicello-Harke also promises a reduction in costs.
