Innovative parcel shelf cuts weight by 40%

EU emission regulations have forced the automotive industry to adopt lightweighting strategies through material selection and design. With this in mind, Joubert Group has developed a new parcel shelf concept that offers 30-40% weight saving compared with a standard parcel shelf. This lightweight textile parcel shelf is made of wire-in-spring steel with an elastic fabric in tension.
The binding tape is sewn all around the parcel shelf and the lifting straps are directly sewn on the parcel shelf.
This new concept offers several advantages for the automotive industry: low weight, especially for electric vehicles because lightweighting allows increased autonomy; cost saving for manufacturing and tooling; and easy customization – fabric or strap color, sewing color, topstitching, etc.
