Non-woven insulation for interior and exterior applications

Sandler will show the possibilities of non-wovens for both the interior and exterior of cars, at Automotive Interiors Expo. Even a relatively thin sheet of the right non-woven material can provide excellent sound absorption, allowing for a quiet, comfortable drive. This makes them ideal for integration in doors, dashboards and boot trim.
With near-silent EV powertrains bringing road and wind noise into sharp focus, effective but compact and light sound insulation has never been more important. Sandler also produces hydrophobic and oleophobic variants that are available in black or white for exterior applications such as wheel housings, bumpers or underbody cladding.
What’s more, combinations of non-wovens with other materials, such as textiles or LWRT (lightweight reinforced thermoplastics using carbon or glass fibre) can harness the qualities of both. By sandwiching compact non-wovens between different cover layers using a thermal pressing process, bending forces can be transferred between the layers, creating an extremely light, but stable material.
