Tenowo is one of the leading non-woven manufacturers, and produces non-wovens for the automotive industry worldwide in its six production sites. The company’s non-wovens are currently used by all leading OEMs worldwide. Binder, thermobonded and needle-punched non-wovens, Aquajet and high-loft bonded non-wovens, stitchbonded non-wovens in the categories Malivlies, Maliwatt, Multiknit and Kunit as well as carbon-fibre non-wovens provide a wide variety and enable the development and production of customised solutions. For automotive interior applications, stitch-bonded non-wovens made of Malimo technology are particularly useful.

The stitch-bonded non-woven Malivlies, with its knitted imitation surface, is used especially for the headliner and ABC pillars as well as trunk covers. Various finishing solutions for increasing the haptics and optics, e.g. graphic prints, surface embossing, mechanical and thermal surface treatments, coatings, effects by odour capsules, light or applications, will be presented at Automotive Interiors Expo.

In the field of foam substitutes for seats, the Multiknit stitch-bonded non-woven offers considerable advantages. This special non-woven has the same compression hardness, permanent deformation and pressure-elastic behaviour as foam. It can be made of sustainable or natural fibres as well as fibres made of recycled polyester. The material has good elongation properties and thus does not have folds, breaks or kinks in combination with the upper material. Multiknit can be laminated with fabric, artificial leather or leather and does not require any processing aid like a charmeuse during the assembly or production processes. The air permeability and moisture transport, which are superior in comparison with foam, provide better seating comfort.
