Precise high-pressure forming
Niebling GmbH

Niebling GmbH, a Germany-based manufacturer of high-pressure forming equipment and tooling, will present its latest development for XXL forming of films for the automotive supplier industry, mainly used in the film insert molding (FIM) process. High repeatability and positioning accuracy for symbols and graphics are just two advantages of the HPF process over traditional vacuum- or thermoforming. Forming sizes up to 1,397 x 508mm can be realized in Niebling’s HPF 1400 work cell for 3D forming of large interior trims or dashboards. It can also be used for exterior parts of, for example, front panels for EVs with lightning and radar/lidar functions.

Even special materials and laminates with chrome appearance or UV-resistant PC have great forming results to fit precisely in injection cavities for the back- and/or over-molding process to finalize parts. The high level of automation comes with approximately 30-45 second cycle times for reliable mass production with very high yield rates.

Well-known automotive OEMs and tier companies that have counted on this technology for decades for interior purposes are now shifting their demands to exterior parts in larger sizes.
