From recycled bottle to foam
Armacell Benelux
Armacell will be showcasing its wide range of eco-friendly, lightweight PET foams that are made from 100% recycled PET (r-PET). These high-temperature-resistant PET foams have processing temperatures of up to 180°C (356°F) and can be recycled at the end of their service life.
Armacell converts single-use recycled PET bottles, which would otherwise end up as plastic waste, into long-lifetime, high-value foam products. The company has already processed more than one billion recycled plastic bottles into r-PET foam to date.
The r-PET product family consists of structural foam cores used in composite sandwich structures for the parcel shelf, trunk floor or EV battery undercover. Extruded foil sheets are used for vacuum thermoformed parts such as air ducts, door water shields and roof liners; and particle foams are used to manufacture lightweight yet strong, ready-to-use 3D-shaped foam cores for car-body chassis and structural add-on parts.
