Thanks to being ultra-thin, lightweight, robust and economical to manufacture, printed electronics open a whole new world for components that have to be flexible and spread over a large area, thus complementing silicon electronics. However, accessing this technology and using it to the fullest can be an issue for small and mid-size companies.
SmartEEs offers support in translating these technologies into innovative products, assessing potential markets, finding investors, developing new business models and creating the right partnerships. It is a European initiative that provides access to competencies, offers business support for innovation adoption, finances projects through an open call to explore technology transfer into business, helps companies access finance, and raises awareness of new, innovative, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Some of the relevant technologies SmartEEs represents include OLED lighting for exterior and interior style elements, curved displays and touch sensors, as well as 3D and flexible surface-integrated sensor applications for smart user interfaces and HMI.
