Gemini CAD Systems will present the Thagora leather scanning machine, a conveyorized installation for inspection and digitization of leather hides. By using an infrared ‘light pen’, augmented reality and a customizable lighting system, this machine allows accurate marking and precise and stable detection.
In addition, the company has developed a next-generation, automatic, multi-hide nesting solution that uses GPU technology. By leveraging computational geometry, AI, machine learning and genetic algorithms, Gemini CAD Systems has been able to commercialize a GPU nesting solution for the automotive industry. This technology uses graphic processing units to increase the nesting speed by up to twentyfold, leading to significantly reduced waste.
Finally, Gemini has also improved the leather die-cutting process workflow. The company argues that the die-cutting process is still the right solution for cutting leather car interiors in large volumes. The Thagora system upgrades this process through automatic, multi-hide nesting; advanced leather scanning machines; software; and the off-line workflow.
