Sustainable automotive skins
Walki is leading the way for sustainable, high-performance laminates. Acquisitions have enabled the company to strengthen its position in highly specialized engineered materials and it can now offer sustainable laminates via thermoformable multifunctional automotive skins.
By carefully engineering the skin construction, Walki can provide improved adhesion, acoustic and chemical barriers, fire retardancy with a light weight and a variety of finishes for interior and exterior car trim parts. The company’s multifunctional skins add value to headliners, underbody shields, carpets, hood liners, etc. Utilizing its knowledge of extrusion coating of various polymers and substrates, Walki finds unique solutions to customers’ challenges.
Within its Zero Waste Future sustainability platform, Walki successfully introduced new products in 2020. The platform is built on three pillars: recyclability, compostability and renewability. Based on these pillars, the company has developed a new skin for underbody shields. This more sustainable underbody shield skin has been successfully tested and is ready to make its debut with car part manufacturers who deal with increasingly high demands on part quality, performance and sustainability.
